Tring – Women in Tring and surrounding areas are invited to a special free event being held at the all makes service centre, Roy Chapman Ltd, on Thursday 19 May to help increase confidence and safety behind the wheel. The event will take place from 7 – 9pm at the dealership on Western Road in Tring and include refreshments.
PCSO Lorraine Horsted from the Berkhamsted and Tring Safer Neighbourhood Team, will be sharing her top safety tips on areas such as preparing for a long journey, driving skills, personal safety, driving on motorways and what to do in the event of a breakdown. Whilst Daniel Rands, ex-Police, who specialises in insurance fraud investigation, will be talking about ‘Crash for Cash’ incidents and the benefits of dash cams.
Technicians from Roy Chapman Ltd, including IMI star Vicky Kempton, will be giving a practical workshop demonstration about basic car maintenance and ensuring your car is safe on the roads. There will also be the opportunity to win a free car service along with many other prizes.
PCSO Lorraine Horsted said: “This promises to be a really useful event which will provide women with a whole host of knowledge and skills to ensure they are safe when out and about on the roads. I’d encourage people to book a place – it’ll be really informal and a fun evening!”
“Our Ladies’ Evening events first came about after we were approached by the Institute of the Motor Industry. They carried out a survey that showed that nearly half of women drivers didn’t get their cars serviced or wouldn’t handle a booking themselves as they were not comfortable dealing with mechanics and garages. This will be our 5th Ladies’ Evening and we have had fantastic feedback from everyone that has attended previously. We also run separate events for young drivers”, said Justine Chapman.
