Roy Chapman, now 67, started his working life as an apprentice motor mechanic in a Ford and Citroen dealership in Chalfont St Peter in 1959 and, by the age of 26, was MD of that company. In 1974 he and his wife Anne founded Roy Chapman Ltd on the London Road in Berkhamsted, initially as a Peugeot dealership. In subsequent years the business underwent massive growth incorporating franchises such as Talbot, Austin Rover, Citroen and Mazda. The business is now primarily a Ford dealership whilst retaining authorised repairer status for Citroen and Mazda and an ‘all makes’ vehicle service centre.
Overall responsibility for running the company now lies with their children, Jeremy, Justine and Pauline and Roy still plays a very active role behind the scenes.

The company motto has remained the same from day one and indeed the Roy Chapman logo continues to feature the key members of the original team.

Within their servicing operation the management team commit to competing with any genuine quotation and offer a free 15 mile collection and delivery service, as well as free wash and vacuum with all major service, MOT and repair work. This can also be upgraded to a mini valet or a full overhaul of your car’s interior and exterior. Their bodyshop is compliant with all major insurers.
