Driving Down Car Crime

Car Crime prevention event on 19th May from 9.30am.

Staff at Roy Chapman Ltd, Ford dealership in Berkhamsted, are working with members of Herts Constabulary to curb the increasing instances of number plate theft.

Roy Chapman is offering free fitting of anti-theft number plate screws on Saturday 19 May 2012 from 9.30am. The first 25 advance bookings received will be fitted free of charge (normal fitted cost £14.99) plus a free vehicle visual health inspection and free tyre inspection check including tread and pressure.

The dealership’s qualified technicians will fit the tamper-proof screws and conduct the vehicle health checks, whilst officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team will provide a crime prevention clinic.

Neigbourhood Sergeant for Berkhamsted, Pete Huffer, said: “We are grateful to Roy Chapman’s for their support in our fight to drive down car crime. I’d encourage people to come along on the day to get these free tamper-proof screws fitted. They are a simple but effective way of deterring thieves.

Jeremy Chapman, Aftersales Director for Roy Chapman Ltd, said “It appears that stolen number plates are quite an issue for Herts Constabulary in Dacorum and we are keen to help both the local community and support the local police. Raising awareness of motoring-related crimes via our event will assist both.”
